Essential Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Natural Sciences (Wildlife Science/ Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/ Ecology/ Environmental Science/ Marine Biology/ Marine Sciences/ Life Sciences) OR Four-year Bachelor’s Degree (under NEP) in relevant subjects AND two (02) years of research experience in wildlife/ecological studies in R&D institutions or scientific services.

Desirable Qualifications

Strong bird identification skills, prior work on avian ecology, bird capture and handling, bird surveys in West Bengal, and proficiency in Bengali for community interactions.

Description of Work

Field surveys for population assessment of migratory shorebirds across Sundarban Biosphere Reserve, capture, handling, satellite tagging of shorebird species for movement and migration studies, habitat assessment, and community questionnaire surveys.

Screening & Selection Criteria

A maximum of Top 10 shortlisted candidates per position will be called for the online interview based on a 50-mark screening matrix:

  • Field / Lab / Project Assistant: % Marks in Bachelor’s (25 Marks) + Relevant Specialization/Experience (25 Marks) = 50 Marks.
  • Project Associate – I: % Marks in Master’s (25 Marks) + Relevant Specialization/Experience (25 Marks) = 50 Marks.
  • Project Associate – II / Senior & Principal PA / Project Scientist: UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET/GATE (5 Marks) + % Marks in Post Graduation (10 Marks) + Research/Work Experience (25 Marks) + Publications (10 Marks) = 50 Marks.
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get up to 5 years; OBC candidates get up to 3 years as per GoI norms.
