JRF Position at IIT Hyderabad – 3D Bioprinted Corneal Stroma

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position

Department of Biomedical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad

🏥 ICMR-Sponsored 🔬 First in World Challenge

👁️ About the Research:  3D Bioprinted Corneal Stroma for Partial Keratoplasty

Corneal blindness is a profound global health challenge, traditionally addressed through keratoplasty (corneal grafting). However, the severe shortage of donor corneas and the risk of immune rejection necessitate innovative tissue engineering alternatives. 3D bioprinting has emerged as a revolutionary approach in regenerative medicine, enabling the precise, layer-by-layer fabrication of biomimetic corneal tissue.

This ICMR-sponsored “First in World Challenge” project focuses on engineering a 3D bioprinted corneal stroma tailored for partial keratoplasty. By utilizing biocompatible hydrogels and specific corneal cells, this research aims to construct transparent, structurally robust, and functional tissue—pushing the boundaries of biomedical engineering and offering a new beacon of hope for restoring sight to millions.
