The ICFRE-Institute of Forest Genetics & Tree Breeding (IFGTB), Coimbatore, is proposing an interview process to recruit highly motivated professionals for 21 temporary (contractual) positions. Opportunities span across roles such as Consultant, Senior Project Associate, Project Associate, Research Associate, SRF, JRF, Project Assistant, and Field Assistant under various prestigious biodiversity and forestry research projects. 1. Consultant “A” (Project Manager) – 01 Post
Qualifications
Essential: Master’s degree in Science OR Bachelor’s in Engineering/Technology with good MS Office knowledge. OR Ph.D. in allied disciplines. OR Retired Govt. employees (Grade Pay Rs. 4,600/- and above).
Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in relevant fields.
Desirable: Proven track record in biodiversity conservation and sustainable forest development.
Project Context
NBA-UNDP-GEF: Institutional Support for Mainstreaming Biodiversity for Strengthening Landscape Governance (Digital Spatial Planning, Biodiversity Finance Tracking).

2. Senior Project Associate (SPA) – 01 Post
Qualifications
Essential: Master’s in Biotechnology / Plant Sciences or equivalent with 4 years R&D experience. OR Ph.D. in Biotechnology / Plant Sciences.
Desirable: National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC NET, DBT-BET, GATE). Experience in transcriptome (RNA-Seq), proteomic data analysis, CRISPR/Cas, and plant genetic transformation.
Project Context
KFD: Identification and Evaluation of Gene Targets for Control of Sandal Spike Disease in Santalum album L.

3. Project Associate-Technical (PAT) – 01 Post
Qualifications
Essential: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D) in Biotechnology/ Plant Biotechnology/ Agricultural Sciences/Plant Sciences.
Desirable: 1-2 years experience in biosafety assessment and regulatory review of GMOs. Knowledge of CRISPR/Cas and RNAi technologies.
Project Context
UNEP-GEF: Implementation of India’s 5th National Report on the Implementation of the Cartagena Protocol.

4. Research Associate (RA-I) – 01 Post
Qualifications
Essential: Doctoral (Ph.D) in Life Science/ Biotechnology/Plant Biotechnology.
Desirable: Qualified in National Eligibility Tests (CSIR-UGC NET, DBT-BET, GATE). Knowledge in molecular biology (PCR, RT-qPCR, cloning, genetic engineering).

5. Research Associate (RA) – 01 Post
Qualifications
Essential: Post Graduate Degree in Genetics/Plant Breeding OR Horticulture/Forestry/Botany with research in Genetics/Plant Breeding AND Two years of relevant R&D experience.
Desirable: Working knowledge on Taxonomy and Statistics.

6. Research Associate (RA) – 02 Posts
Qualifications Overview
- Post 1: M.Sc in Forestry / Ph.D in Botany. Desirable: 2 years research experience.
- Post 2: First class Master’s in Geo-informatics / RS-GIS. Desirable: Ph.D with 1-3 years experience in RS-GIS satellite image processing.
Project Context
Projects: PPV&FR (Gene bank) & NBA-UNDP-GEF (Digital Spatial Planning).
7. Senior Research Fellow (SRF) – 01 Post
Qualifications
Essential: First class Post Graduate Degree in Biotechnology/ Life Science AND at least 2 years of research experience after post-graduation.
Project Context

8. Senior Project Fellow (SPF) – 02 Posts
Qualifications Overview
- Post 1: Bachelor Degree in Botany/ Agriculture/ Horticulture. Desirable: Field data collection & DUS testing procedures.
- Post 2: M.Sc. in Botany/ Plant Sciences/ Forestry. Desirable: Plant morphology & field trial evaluation.

PPVFRA DUS Centers for Ailanthus excelsa, Casuarina, and Eucalyptus.
9. JRF / JPF / YP-I – 05 Posts
Qualifications Overview
- JRF (2 Posts): M.Sc in Marine Biology/Botany/Forestry/Life Sciences + NET/GATE qualification. (Mangrove Bio-restoration Project).
- JPF / YP-I (3 Posts): First class M.Sc. in Botany/Forestry/Horticulture/Life Sciences/Biochemistry. (Projects: Bamboo Furniture Cluster, Sandalwood Genetic Resources, Teak Tissue Culture).
Desirable: Working knowledge of Mangroves, tissue culture, and extensive field survey aptitude.
10. Project Assistant (PA) & Field Assistant (FA) – 09 Posts
Qualifications Overview
- PA (1 Post): B.Tech/M.Sc in Biotechnology.
- PA (3 Posts): B.Sc in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Science. (Medicinal plants & Spatial Planning projects).
- PA (2 Posts): M.Sc in Life Sciences/Botany OR B.Sc in Agriculture/Forestry. (Food Forests & PPVFRA Field Gene Bank).

- Candidates without Provisional Certificate / Degree Certificate awarded by the Universities shall not attend the interview.
