Research Trainees & Interns Programme at CSIR – Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB)
A premier Institute of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), engaged in research of national importance in areas of genomics, molecular medicine, and bioinformatics.
About the Programme
CSIR-IGIB hosts more than 150 Research Trainees every year. We welcome deeply motivated Bachelors and Masters students to join our cutting-edge laboratories for either short 2-month research experiences or for completing their comprehensive 6-month or 1-year Dissertation projects.
To foster academic collaboration, we also maintain active tie-ups with various prestigious University departments across the country to host their students for short-term rotational training or specialized dissertation training projects, allowing young scientists to get hands-on experience in translational research.
How to Apply: The Perfect Outreach
Securing a spot in a CSIR-IGIB lab requires direct communication with our Principal Investigators (Scientists). When writing directly to our scientists for a training opportunity, please ensure your email adheres to the following checklist:
Clear Subject Line
Write your purpose clearly in the subject line (e.g., “Application for 6-Month MSc Dissertation – Genomics”).
Area of Interest
Write a short, crisp email highlighting your specific area of interest and how it aligns with the PI’s lab.
Define Your Goal
Clearly mention what you are looking for โ specify if it is for employment, an internship, or training.
Period of Engagement
State the exact period of engagement you are seeking (e.g., May to July, or 6 months starting August).
Attach Your CV
Attach an updated CV detailing your academic qualifications, prior lab experience, and technical skills.
Bonafide Letter
Attach a bonafide letter from your HOD confirming you are a currently enrolled student.
Pro Tip: A focused, well-structured, and personalized email significantly improves your chances of receiving a positive response from our scientists. Avoid generic mass emails!
