IIT Roorkee SPARK 2026
🔬 Program Overview
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) invites applications for its prestigious SPARK 2026 program. This is an institute-funded fellowship designed to provide research exposure and nurture talented undergraduate students from across India.
Selected interns will work on cutting-edge research projects under the mentorship of IIT Roorkee faculty members. The program is rigorous, academic, and aims to spark a passion for research in young minds.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Students currently enrolled in relevant undergraduate disciplines (B.Arch / B.E. / B.Tech / BS-MS / M.Sc) from any institute in India can apply.
Academic Requirements:
- Must have completed at least two semesters of the undergraduate degree.
- Must have at least one semester remaining after Summer 2026 (Final year students finishing before June are not eligible).
- CGPA Criterion: Minimum CGPA of 7.5 for students from IITs/IISc. Relevant minimum CGPA criteria will apply for other institutes.
📝 Application Process & Documents
Applications must be submitted exclusively through the online portal made for this purpose. Please follow the instructions below:
1. Online Submission
Applicants must login to the portal to submit their application and view its status.
2. Required Documents
You must upload the following during the application process:
- Last Semester Marksheet: Of your current degree.
- Photograph: Recent passport size.
- Research Statement (500 words): Explain your research interest and motivation.
- Resume/CV: Brief 1-2 page document.
- Faculty Preferences: Mention names of five (5) faculty members of your choice from the list of faculty interested in having a summer intern.
*Important for Non-IITR Students: A No Objection Certificate (NOC) will be sought from your parent institute upon joining.
🏠 Facilities & Accommodation
Interns at IIT Roorkee are provided with access to campus facilities to ensure a comfortable research environment:
- Accommodation & Mess: Facilities are available in the Bhawans (Hostels), subject to payment of necessary charges (at par with students living in hostels).
- Institute ID: All interns will be issued a temporary institute ID.
- Campus Access: The ID provides access to the library, sports facilities, medical center, computer center, internet, and other departmental research and recreation facilities.
📜 Certification & Conduct
Code of Conduct
Interns are required to abide by the conduct rules of the institute. Failure to do so will result in the termination of the internship, and the intern will be asked to leave the campus.
Certification
At the successful completion of the internship, a certificate from the institute containing the name of the intern and mentor, signed by the Dean, SRIC, will be issued to all interns.
